The Perfectionist or Reformer: Enneagram Type One
Enneagram Type 1s – The Perfectionist or Reformer – are rational, idealistic types. They are principled, purposeful, self-controlled, and perfectionistic. These are conscientious, dependable people who bring clarity and order to life. However, their belief that there is only one way to do things correctly can make them rigid and intolerant. On this episode of The Behaviorist, Work Wisdom’s Kimberlee Peifer is joined by Wes Reminder, Director of Operations at Godfrey, Salina Almanzar, Visual Artist and Graduate Studies Professor at Drexel University Westphal College of Art and Design, and Mike McKenna, President at Tabor Community Services. These three self-identifying Type 1s discuss how knowing their type has helped give them a new language for viewing the world and engaging in their work. They share their experience of the deep sense of justice they carry, the uncovering of their dominant emotion, anger, and how that shows up in each of their lives, the intense voice of their ‘inner critic,’ learning to take compliments, being attentive to others’ needs versus projecting expectations of perfection onto them, and talking through the behaviors they access from Type 4 and Type 7. If you are a Type 1 or someone who works with or loves a Type 1, this podcast is a must-listen!
